A Guide to Fantasy Football

This article is designed for people who are brand new to fantasy football.

Lets us begin by defining what is a fantasy football. FF is a form of fantasy entertainment where a collection of people (owners) choose a make-believe team of players through a yearly draft or auction. The points that the players can gain weekly will depend on the real statistics of actual NFL players. The websites automatically handle all league datum including stats, standings, roster management, trades and free agent acquisitions. Leagues vary in size between eight and fourteen teams with twelve being the most widespread.

The season is played for thirteen weeks. There are also games which are considered to be a weekly matchup, example is the head-to-head just like the NFL. Owners enhance their team throughout the season by adding or dropping players in an attempt to score the most points each week. A single-elimination playoff for three weeks will be done after the end of the thirteen weeks and if there are already teams which are qualified. The champion is the winner of the playoff tournament, which is the main objective. Before the season starts, each owner chips an amount of money into the prize pool which will be used on the playoff results. The top teams split the money based on his or her playoff results.
Events Tips for The Average Joe

There are tons of draft which are involved in Fantasy Football that all of them cannot be discussed in this article, however, the two main types of drafts will be discussed.
Why No One Talks About Resources Anymore

Snake or serpentine style draft. The team that finished last prior to the last year’s result will be the first to be chosen since the teams will choose their player in reverse order depending on the result of the last season. Each owner takes turns picking a player. The previous champion picks last (in round 1). Every other round, the order reverses, thus, it is called the “snake” draft.

In order to build a roster, each player will be bid by owners having a fixed amount, this method is called the auction type of draft. Just like an auction at an estate sale, each owner bids on a player. The team with the highest bid receives the player.

There are many resources available online to help fantasy players prepare for the draft or auction. Many websites list rankings of players by position with projections forecasting how each player will produce for the season. Some sites offer a fantasy football mock draft that allows people to practice a draft against other participants. Fantasy football mock drafts are an excellent way to gauge the value of newcomers and rookies in particular.
