As it stands, Liverpool have a six point lead over Arsenal and Nottingham Forest with a game in hand.

Diogo Jota and Joe Gomez will miss the clash at Anfield as they continue to recover from injury but Slot has also confirmed that another player has sideline.

Jones starte the 2-1 win over Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday night, assisting. Mohammed Salah’s opener, but was withdrawn at half-time after picking up a knock.

Though more details on the injury itself have not been reveale, Slot says the England midfielder will miss the Ipswich game but is hopeful he will be back soon.

‘He went out during half-time, so that’s mostly not a good sign, and it wasn’t because he will not be available for the game tomorrow,’ the Dutch head coach said in his pre-match press conference.

‘The rest we have to wait and see how long it’s going to take. I’m not expecting months… but let’s see if he’s available for PSV or Bournemouth.’

Jones, 23, has grown into a key player for the Reds this season, recording three goals and six assists so far.

Liverpool travel to PSV on Wednesday for their last Champions League league phase match but should be able to rest key players given they have already qualified for last-16.

The trip to high-flying Bournemouth kicks off a difficult run of fixtures including the Merseyside derby at Everton, Manchester City, Newcastle and the second-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham.

While Jones’ absence will hurt, Slot has confirme that Ibrahima Konate,. Who recently returne from a knee injury, is fit to play after sitting out the Lille win:

‘You have seen how we managed that [injury]. Jarell [Quansah] played against Lille and Accrington Stanley. That is a bit because he has some pain, we don’t exaggerate it but he feels it a bit.

‘It’s safe for him to play but you’re aware of playing someone every three days when they have been out for a bit. He is not in a moment where he can play three times a week.’
